British North America: After the U. S. broke away from Britain, the remaining British colonies in North America were called British North America.
These colonies later united to form Canada.

Britain got Quebec from France in 1763 (After the 7 Years War) -[Treaty of Paris]. Britain also received East & West Florida from Spain.

The Province of Quebec was divided into the colonies of Upper & Lower Canada (1791). In 1841, the two Canadas were united as the Province of Canada. At the time of Confederation (1867), the new country became Canada.
