Remembrance Forever

The painful cries of a fallen soldier
The hope of cheering when the war is over
The bangs of guns
And the booms of mines
To us these are the evil times.

The larks still fly up in the sky
And see the war below
They see the sides and both will die
Some more painful and more slow.

From what you hear war is mad
All it does is makes us sad
The people die
And we ask why.

Peace must overcome war!

Thank You Soldiers

For us to remember
Your honour is marked this day
Soldiers united by war
With your lives, you had to pay.

November 11, forever in our hearts
Memories for old and young
Your world has ended
For us, another has begun.

Youth must remember
What your fight was for
Lest we forget
And start another war.

Thank you soldiers
For the sacrifices you made
Thank you soldiers
For being so brave.

The Gift of Peace

They gave their lives for ours
And now the flowers grow
In a field we call Flander’s
They gave us peace.

The soldiers fought and they sought
For peace in our country
For happiness on our streets
They gave us peace.

On this day of November 11
We thank them for our freedom
That they so gallantly fought for
Theyn gave us peace.

In these poems we express their distress
And what the brave did to forbid
Harm to their country

They gave us peace.

The Remembrance Day Parade

There is plenty to remember on Remembrance Day,
At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, I say,

The November wind blows strong, the dark clouds hang low,
The parade begins and moves so slow,

The sea of veterans march proud and tall,
Army, navy, and air force, they represent them all,

Their medals for service shine brightly you see,
They have each come here, because they fought for me,

The crowd stands solemn as they proudly march past,
We quietly clap to say "thank you" at last,

This sea of soldiers, pilots, nurses and doctors moves on,
Each remembering the friends, comrades, and family whom are already gone,

As the trumpet plays "The Last Post", you can see the tears,
That shows the pain and horror of all those years,

The sorrow and sadness of memories of friends they’ve lost,
Is etched on the lines of their faces, such a tremendous cost,

As this parade of veterans gets smaller each year,
It’s my generation’s responsibility to remember the fear,

Thanks to them we live in a country with freedom to live,
We must never ever forget what they each had to give,

So, I’ll never forget what my grandfathers did,
I promise to pass this respect onto my kids,

Today, I wear a bright red poppy on my sweater,
We will never forget how they made the world better.

What We Remember

The people are scared
The horror is shared
With the men whom fight
They fight at day they fight at night
To bring peace to the world in which we live in.

With a gun shot here and a gun shot there
The wars we knew were not fair
They collected information to win the war
During war, time is used more and more
On November 11 we stand to think of those who rest in peace.

We bow our heads and are very sad
We loved the people that we had
That fought in war, to protect
To them we give respect
So to this day we stand on November 11.
